PORTLAND, ME (April 24, 2009) – Maine Street Solutions is delighted to welcome Dana Stanley as the new Director of Market Research and New Media.  With Dana’s joinder, Maine Street Solutions expands its public relations and campaign work for corporate clients, non-profits and issue campaigns.   Although Dana’s work will frequently bring him to Boston, Washington, DC and Augusta, he will be based in Maine Street Solutions’ Portland office.

Dana began his career as a campaign and U.S. Senate aide to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).  He learned the art and science of surveys and focus groups from nationally-known pollsters Mark Mellman and Celinda Lake, then served a leadership role in political research efforts at AFSCME International in Washington.  More recently, Dana has developed a special expertise in internet research and communications strategies working for pioneering internet research companies Greenfield Online and Research Now.  He has been designated a research expert by the Marketing Research Association’s Professional Researcher Certification program.  Dana has studied at the Joint Program in Survey Methodology at the University of Maryland, and he trained as a focus group moderator at RIVA Market Research in Bethesda, Maryland.  A native of Old Town, Maine and a graduate of Bowdoin College, Dana lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with his family.

Mosey Down Main Street is an arts, food, shopping and entertainment festival held on a semi-regular basis in Downtown Lafayette, IN. As the name implies, the Mosey takes place on Main Street, which is made entirely pedestrian-friendly. Freestyle football is the art of keeping a football airborne while juggling it using various parts of the body –such as the chest, knees, lower legs, head , shoulders… and many other parts as well .

It is a constantly evolving and refreshingly different form of football which leaves viewers mesmerized. Freestyle football was not too well known or well publicized a style till a few years ago .But the rapid growth of media communications has ensured that the gifted freestylers get there due.

In this article, I’d like to discuss a group of Indian freestylers known as the  Street Kings Of India (SKI), a skillful bunch of  football freestyler, who can make footballs dance to their tunes with effortless ease. Their popularity is on a steep ascend. They have been featured on a few television shows on channels such as colors, ndtv, etc. their fanbase on facebook includes 835+ fans and still counting, and their videos on youtube are a rage.

The street kings are a group of 6 young teenagers that represent the youthful exuberance of every single person passionate about football. Their performances last for about 4-6 minutes or so, but every single minute is an adrenaline pumping joyride. They perform to music thumping in the background which makes the performances even more thrilling. Freestyling requires constant innovation and improvisation , but the SKI don’t disappoint as they challenge themselves by inventing newer and more complicated manoeuvres from time to time. When in full flow they are a spectacle to behold and a visual treat. And If not the best, they are definitely among the best freestylers in the nation.

The SKI are available for football matches, private parties, coaching, promotion, advertising and other events as well. Basically, they are a group of entertainers that can provide entertainment of an extremely rare form, and it is up to us to allow this art to grow to newer heights.

A funny thing happened on the way to writing this column. Ferris Bueller’s economics teacher beat me to deadline.

Even scarier, I agree with Ben Stein’s position in his New York Times piece August 8. Chicken Little got it wrong. The sky isn’t falling. And healthy financial adjustments are being made from Wall Street to Main Street.

But let me take Stein’s premise one step further.

While Stein attributes the stock market correction largely to subprime mortgage fears and a panic exacerbated by the media, the real estate market is behaving in a similarly petulant way.

Despite the best discounts in years, no one is buying. Investors are sitting on the fence. Media mavens, looking for strong angles at editorial budget meetings are jumping all over the alleged real estate market crash story when what’s really happening is likely closer to a healthy industry correction.

Consolidation is good for business. It weeds out the marginal, the fraudsters, the corporate wanna-bes. The over-leveraged. The real estate and stock markets will come back – at a deliberate and sustainable pace. And we will all be better for it.

Remember those offers of generous equity lines? Gone.

How about getting a mortgage with a credit score below 600? Not a chance.

Exotic mortgage instruments that don’t verify buyer income? Good riddance.

Greed, for lack of a better word is human nature. So is avoidance. Consequences be damned. And we are all to blame.

A glance at the headlines at Condo” target=”_blank”>www.CondoVultures.com/”>Condo Vultures LLC sums up the general panic. If there is any positive in the reporting, I haven’t seen it.

The media lives in a heaven or hell world. Investors, and the financial institutions that serve them, have the Sword of Damocles dangling over their heads. Not that some consternation isn’t deserved. It is.

So now that the self-flagellation is over, let’s suck it up and get back to reality.

When the devalued dollar begins to rise again, it will already be too late for foreign buyers in Tokyo or the United Kingdom looking for a good U.S. acquisition.

I believe the same holds true for real estate. By the time the market begins to turn, valuable equity will be left on the table for those buyers looking for even more discounted prices.

Whether you are playing the stock market or the real estate market, a buyer’s market is all about good pricing, and not about knowing the perfect time to pounce.
